Summer Interns Support GeneLab

GeneLab interns 2019

NASA’s GeneLab project at Ames Research Center welcomes three student interns to Ames Research Center.

Taylor Walton is majoring in biochemistry at Arizona State University. Taylor works in GeneLab's Sample Processing Laboratory where she is extracting DNA from rodent research fecal samples, building libraries, and sequencing the samples. Taylor is also participating in the Space Life Sciences Training Program (SLSTP)

Mikayla Buckley is a rising senior at Florida State University where she is majoring in computational biology. Mikayla supports GeneLab's Data Processing group where she is comparing statistical analysis methods used in systems biology modeling. She is also participating in the SLSTP program. 

Brian Lederman graduated with a B.S. in computer science from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2018. He is part of the Blue Marble Young Scientist Program. During his summer at Ames, Brian is helping the Data Systems group write a script that automatically renames hundreds of files.
