2024 AWG Symposium Flyer

On May 1st and 2nd, the Open Science Data Repository (OSDR) hosted the 2024 AWG Symposium, a virtual event that was open to the public and allowed attendees an opportunity to hear about some of the exciting open science stemming from the Analysis Work Group (AWG) community. Centered around the theme of "Bridging Space Biology and Advanced Technologies", the symposium featured 25 speakers from the AWG community, showcasing groundbreaking research and advancements. With 293 unique participants on May 1st and 206 on May 2nd, the event provided an enriching platform for the public to engage with cutting-edge open science. Each day consisted of two sessions: 20-minute science talks followed by 10-minute lightning science talks. Highlights from May 1st included opening remarks by OSDR Project Scientist Lauren Sanders and a keynote address by Kellie Gerardi and Dr. Shawna Pandya from the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences (IIAS), alongside science talks from 12 AWG members. On May 2nd, OSDR Project Manager Sylvain Costes delivered opening remarks, followed by an inspiring keynote from Chris Sembroski, an astronaut from the Inspiration4 mission—the first all-civilian crewed mission. This was complemented by science talks from 13 AWG community members.
