2016 June — 16-20
Place — Boston Convention and Exhibition Center Boston, MA 02210
Information —

GeneLab and NASA Space Biology jointly sponsored an exhibit booth at the annual meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, June 16 - 20 in Boston, MA. During the four days of the exhibit several representatives from Ames Research Center’s GeneLab Project and Space Biology teams, and NASA Headquarters staffed the booth and spoke directly to 145 meeting attendees about grant funding opportunities, student internships, NASA Post-doctoral Fellowship opportunities, GeneLab, and NASA life sciences research on the International Space Station. Approximately 60% of the booth visitors were undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students interested in learning about opportunities to work with NASA, another 20% were professors and researchers from academia, and the remaining 10% were other exhibitors and members of the commercial sector interested in learning about how to provide products and services to NASA. The WetLab sample processing kit was on hand to demonstrate the new real-time, on-orbit gene expression capabilities available for future research. An estimated 13,000 visitors attended this year’s meeting. Staffing the booth exhibit were Oana Marcu, Elizabeth Keller, and Luan Tran from Ames Research Center, and Ruth Siboni from NASA Headquarters.
